Small and high-pitched tinier sounds will not work. \nI highly recommend the 16 inch Black REMO drums to use at this Drum Circle\, especially for people that are new to playing drums. \nThe best deep sounding drums are 16 inch REMO black Bahia bass buffalo drums. \nBenefits are that heat and humidity do not adversely affect the deep sound. They are dependable in most environmental conditions.  \nThese black Remo synthetic drums (are not made from buffalo hides\, even though they have the word ‘buffalo’ in the title)\, have a deep nice sound. \nThe white Remo drums do Not have as deep a sound as the black REMOs do. \n16 ” Black REMO drums are about $110 dollars new (on Amazon). Other website dealers sell them also. \n– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – \nOpen to REMO Hoop Hand drums\, or hoop hide drums that have a deep sound\, not a high pitched tinny sound. \nI have found that djembe drummers (who typically use 2 hands to beat) generally cannot keep on the same beat as the hoop hand drummers (who use a one beat motion)\, and Keeping on the Same Beat is required. No rattles. \n– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – \n16″ or 18″ thicker animal hide hoop drums (like buffalo or bovine hides) have the best\, deepest sound generally. But having a deep sound also depends upon the drum maker\, as drum hide that is stretched too tight may also result in a high pitched sound. \nHide drums have constant maintenance issues with humidity and heat\, and they can be more expensive. \nDeer or goat are generally thinner hides and have a tinier high pitched sound.
